Wild West at BDGA Collaborators
Wild West by BDGA was a multi-disciplinary art and design installation that was made possible by an A-team of creative professionals with a wonderfully diverse set of skills and interests. Although the project was viewed as an exhibition of art and design, it was also an exhibition of skill and talent.
Process photography has been paired with written descriptions provided by collaborators.

Initial configuration in cubbies on west wall at Bodega
Hidden within a secret passage of a dusty unmarked convenience store in Boston lies one of the most talked about retail concepts on the planet. Bodega is not advertised, and one would never accidentally stumble upon it, yet its tightly curated shelves sell out of product and the crew’s own design projects cause campouts in cities around the globe and bidding wars for knockoffs online.
Founded in 2006, Bodega’s focus on limited edition sneakers and menswear through the lens of art and design has transformed the shop into a cultural brand. Bodega designs co-branded products for Nike, Adidas, Converse, and Reebok as well as their own sportswear brand which is distributed globally. Bodega also houses art installations in the retail space and operates the Fourth Wall Project – a 3,000 sq ft art gallery in Boston. In march of 2014, Bodega launched its first retail location outside of North America - the Bodega AndA Pop Up shop in Tokyo, Japan.

Early prototype of Ol'Buck Hanger N0. 15 with Brad Crane
My name is Brad Crane and I am a designer and engineer that likes making things for humans. Wood & Plastic is my place to gather favorite projects, practice writing, and collect inspirations for future work. It is a work continually in progress.
I have had the pleasure of teaching, lecturing, and making interesting things throughout the USA. Most recently, I co-created and taught Designing Things for Humans, a course on Human Centered design at the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
Professionally I work as a Design Lead at IDEO. There I focus on the creation of interfaces and environments. I have had the joy to work on myriad projects from retail strategy for major manufacturers to textile-based electronics for infant safety to operational infrastructure for regional emergencies.

Trapeze shelf configuration during Phase 2 Installation with Unlikely Creatures
Unlikely Creatures is the ongoing project of Mark Lewis, an Arizona-based environments and products designer. Lewis launched the firm in 2012 with a vision to channel basic curiosity, bizarre explorations, and near-maniacal diligence into a collection of works that owe their existences less to probability than possibility. Unlikely Creatures lives at unlikelycreatures.com
Trapeze is a wall display for paper goods, prints and other objects of interest. It consists of a furrowed shelf, suspended by a cord from grooved knobs. The shelf and knobs are made from durable American hardwoods, hand-finished with orange oil and beeswax. The waxed cotton cord creates a flexible graphic frame, which can be composed into various shapes by anchoring additional knobs into the arrangement. Each Trapeze includes two knobs, two #10 brass screws, and one black cord. Trapeze is available for in-store purchase at Bodega and online through Card and Cloth.
